Welcome to Lincoln P.A.C.'s (R.A.48) Blogspot.We are the 1st P.A.C. region to try this out and I hope that it is successful in letting everyone from our region and beyond know just what is going regarding meetings and more.

Each and every one of us has a real passion for pike and piking in all it's forms, some pikers chase our chosen quarry the length and breadth of the country, others are content in fishing locally on a few selected venues; whichever category you have chosen I would hope that you can find something of value from our region,be it from our Winter Speaker season or from our local members or the PAC nationally.
Piking is often all about solitude and the piker pitting his wits against our water's apex predator but even if your piking is conducted that way to meet with like minded individuals once a month can be fantastic way to broaden your outlook and pick up the odd trick here and there and that can only enhance everyone's piking and the enjoyment our sport brings.
Lincoln PAC meet from Sept.-April on the 1st Monday of the month at the Stag's Head in Newport Lincoln (see section 6.).We encourage everyone to arrive early, especially new faces, nice to chat before the speaker is on at 20:00. All welcome from 19:00.

PAC membership encouraged but not a prerequisite, we are here to talk pike and generally be social.

All abilities of piker are welcome, those just starting or thinking of piking especially welcome as we will point you in the right direction, help and assist you.

We welcome anyone with an interest in pike, even zandermen can come!

6. MIGHTY 48 MEETINGS

We meet on the first Monday of the month (except those that are Bank holidays) from September to April.
Our meetings take place at THE STAG'S HEAD in Newport in an upstairs room.The Stag's had good beer and very nice food should you need feeding before the meeting.
Speakers always start their talk at 20:00, one of us is usually there from 19:00 setting up.

2. Aim of the PAC.

The Pike Anglers' Club of Great Britain was formed in 1977 as a direct result of changing attitudes toward pike. For far too long pike had been regarded by fishery owners and some anglers as vermin, to be killed and removed at all costs. Since it's inception, the PAC has done much to drastically change this mistaken attitude and pike are now widely regarded as a positive element in the natural balance of any fishery. Pike fishing has without doubt become one of the most specialised branches of coarse fishing. Not least in the methods of handling, unhooking and safe return of the fish once caught. One of the most important aspects of the PAC's work is in helping young or novice pike anglers to overcome what for some are areas of difficulty. You may well have experienced that feeling of 'what do I do now', having just caught your first pike. You are not alone, many have experienced it and lived to tell the tale, thanks to the friendly assistance of PAC members offering sound advice and guidance. The PAC works continually for the benefit of all pike and pike anglers, we seek only to further the opportunities for pike fishing, whilst preserving all that pike fishing is all about. We strive to protect pike from persecution by those who do not understand, or choose to ignore, the facts about the important role the pike plays in the balance of nature. We also work to promote pike conservation through safe practice by anglers.

4. Piking basics

Pike are a large aggressive fish with a mouth full of teeth and should not to be fished for with any old tackle or on a whim. Despite their appearance pike are very delicate creatures and the utmost care is required in their care/handling and return. Far too many fish are damaged each season by poor practices/bad handling by novice fisherman who have not researched piking properly. It cannot be stressed enough that in the quest to become a competent piker one should glean as much info as possible, and should seek out someone who is an experienced piker to educate/demonstrate just how it is done. We at the club will be more than happy to steer anyone in the right direction. 6. Rant

We as a club and as individuals have a duty of care to our fish, I know I am preaching to the converted but there are still far too many people out there who do not treat pike with the care and consideration that they require. We need to confront the issue directly, if anybody comes across these individuals put the message across and educate them into the proper methods of piking.Most of our problems are caused by ingorance, a quiet word or demonstration is often most effective.In the instance of the more serious cases contact the E.A.(0800 807060), put it in your mobile and/or contact the PAC- slight rant over for now.
