Welcome to Lincoln P.A.C.'s (R.A.48) Blogspot. We are the 1st P.A.C. region to try this out and I hope that it is successful in letting everyone from our region and beyond know just what is going regarding meetings and more.

Each and every one of us has a real passion for pike and piking in all it's forms, some pikers chase our chosen quarry the length and breadth of the country, others are content in fishing locally on a few selected venues; whichever category you have chosen I would hope that you can find something of value from our region,be it from our Winter Speaker season or from our local members or the PAC nationally.

Piking is often all about solitude and the piker pitting his wits against our water's apex predator but even if your piking is conducted that way to meet with like minded individuals once a month can be fantastic way to broaden your outlook and pick up the odd trick here and there and that can only enhance everyone's piking and the enjoyment our sport brings.

Lincoln PAC meet from Sept.-April on the 1st Monday of the month at the Stag's Head in Newport Lincoln (see section 6.).We encourage everyone to arrive early, especially new faces, nice to chat before the speaker is on at 20:00. All welcome from 19:00.

PAC membership encouraged but not a prerequisite, we are here to talk pike and generally be social.

All abilities of piker are welcome, those just starting or thinking of piking especially welcome as we will point you in the right direction, help and assist you.

We welcome anyone with an interest in pike, even zandermen can come!

NEWS

NEXT SPEAKER

JOHN WATSON DEC. 7th

The one, the only yes..... the legend that is John Watson.
John needs no introduction at all to the piking masses but he's a straight talking piker's piker who knows how to catch especially in his adopted county of Norfolk.

Possibly standing room only so get there early.

John will have copies of Pikers Progression with him on the night, bring some cash.

Fresh face on the 48 committee .

A young, keen, man-mountain of a fella has dived in at the deep end and become the 48's new Treasurer. Simply put we wanted someone on the team who could actually catch a pike and also someone who wouldn't get a bag of cash ripped from their grip. Who better than the Glentham bagging machine Sie Blaydes, welcome Sie and thank you for stepping up.

..............................................................................

St Barnabas Fish-in

After last years fantastic efforts and a good day out it is proposed we fish the event this year on the 29th of November. This year will be fished with local rivals Nottingham PAC to add a little bitter rivalry to the proceedings! Both should be good for 20-25 places, if you want to get your name on the sheet let me know pronto. This is a chance to get out and have a social whilst raising money for a great local cause, the fact that we will grind those new Nott's lads into the mud with our finer piscatorial skills is just a bonus!!

START/FINISH

meet at the far car park (drive toward the sailing club car park on left) at 07:30

rods back in at 16:00.Weather is looking good

Retailer of the Month

I have decided to highlight one of the companies featured in our "Useful sites" section each month as they sometimes get overlooked, hopefully this will encourage you to check the others out too.

This month it is the turn of BILLY'S BLUE BACKBITERS pukka alarms for pukka pikers.

January 4th - "Sir" Peter Green & Mark Green

PhotobucketPhotobucket

January brings piking royalty to the 48 in the shape of Sir Peter Green Wakefield R.O. and his son, Selby RO Mark Green. We all know that in Yorkshire they like to call a spade a spade and so in typical Yorkshire fashion their talk is entitled "Yorkshire Piking", there will be pike in it and I reckon they'll be from Yorkshire.
Those from the Mighty 48 with a little wanderlust in their hearts have forayed into this neighbouring county and scored a few crackers, make sure to gleen every bit of info from this one as it will be belter.

........................................................................

February 1st- Colin "Father Jack" Brett

Photobucket

Colin comes to us with his highly acclaimed talk entitled "Look what I have just caught". Featuring some of the fantastic catches from both here and abroad. Be amazed at the mighty Sturgeon, wonder how salmon fit into such small tins and then sit back, relax and absorb that warmth we feel with pike and a few special zander. Girls get Valentine's day, we at the Mighty 48 get Colin "Father Jack" Brett.

........................................................................

March 1st - Dave Pugh

Photobucket

Dave is a hugely capable a very well respected lure angler fishing many different waters and targeting lots of predatory fish. For the Mighty 48 he will be presenting us with his Zander fishing from 1992 to the present and apart from some very nice fish he will show us around his tackle and give us all the in's and outs of how and why.

Recently two Lincoln PAC stalwarts have appeared in the "Under the skin" interviews in Pikelines- Graham Slater in PL 113 and Simon Blaydes in PL114. Both are very self effacing but very accomplished anglers, both showed a great passion for both pike and piking-jolly well done chaps!

LOCAL SHOPS

Many people seem to ask about shops and where to buy items of pike tackle. With the advent of the internet and "deals" all over the place we often forget what is on our doorstep. If nobody uses them they will be gone. Below is a small list of shops in the area. I stress that they are in no particular order and they have no "deal" with us, just don't want to lose them. If I have missed any out let me know.
